OUR NEXT FILM
SEASON 62
October 14 2025, 8 P.M.
Ireland, Belgium, USA
2024, 98 mins.
English, Gaelic languages. English subtitles
Directed by Tim Mielants

The film is a quietly devastating morality
tale anchored by a stunning Cillian
Murphy performance. Set in 1980s
Ireland, its spare storytelling and
winter-grey visuals evoke a suffocating
yet profoundly human atmosphere.
A haunting exploration of courage, shame
and what it means not to look away.

British Board of Film Classification presentation
Tuesday 4th November 8 p.m. at The Exchange
The Society has organised a special presentation from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). Members get
free entry and 60 non-member tickets are available from The Exchange. The BBFC is an independent, non-governmental,
not-for-profit organisation, which was founded by the British film industry in 1912. It is responsible for classifying films
that have a cinema and DVD release and more recently, online content. A representative from the BBFC will explain
how it works and how it develops its Classification Guidelines following extensive public consultation, other research
and expert advice. The presentation will include slides and film clips to illustrate some of the finely balanced
judgments that film classification requires. The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A.
